In The fall of 1983, following an injury that ended a 10 year figure skating career, Nicole Bordeaux entered the fashion arena to try her luck as a model. By 18, she was on her way to Paris with a one way ticket and a test book of photographs. Two months upon arrival, after continual rejection by the modeling agencies, Nicole Bordeaux was scouted by photographer icon Guy Bourdin, who worked exclusively for the prestigious magazine French Vogue. This pivotal point in her life would carve the path for her future in the world of fashion. Assignments followed in Paris, London, Milan, New York and Australia, and by age 21, she was ready to move back to her hometown Los Angeles California, to scout and help inspiring models break into the business that she was once rejected from.
In of 1987, Nicole started her own independent scouting company, Foto Expo, a business that scouted, developed and placed inspiring models with top agencies worldwide. Within a year Foto Expo had placed over 250 models with agencies worldwide, and became the number one supplier of talent in the city of Los Angeles.
In the summer of 1988, encouraged by her scouting success, at 23 years old Nicole opened her own modeling agency Bordeaux Model Management, located in Los Angeles, California. With 500 dollars in start up capital and 35 models she had scouted at the local shopping malls, Nicole focused her efforts on a “quality verses quantity” management structure and cutting edge marketing.
Bordeaux models went on to become the West Coast Premier modeling agency, representing supermodels: Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Carolyn Murphy, Charlize Theron and Hillary Swank. In 1999, Nicole Bordeaux became the director of the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling Agency in Los Angeles.
In 2002, Nicole Bordeaux, Dean and Davis Factor, owners of Smashbox studios and Smashbox cosmetics partnered up to create photo[genics, a full service management and production office that represents fashion models, young up and coming actresses.
In 2005, Nicole Bordeaux co-produced the scripted reality series Shoot Me LA, for FTV Network. Shoot Me LA is a series of 20 mini-episodes that will run in 110 countries, for the next 12 months, on the Fashion Television Network. Shoot Me LA features Nicole Bordeaux as the agency head, photo[genics, its models/actresses to play the leads, and Smashbox Studios and Smashbox Cosmetics.
In the summer of 2008, Nicole created photogenics TV, an on line network, with 6 channels, and 12 original programs centered around fashion, beauty, the green movement, and youth pop culture. Photogenics TV will launch Nov 3, 2008.
In the summer of 2012, photogenics launches PhotogenicsMag. An on-line magazine and inspirational blog.
In the summer of 2014 photogenics launches its INFLUENCER division representing the fashion influencer elite.
